A 20-year-old woman is in critical condition after she miraculously survived a fall from a seven-storey building in Melbourne.
The incident occurred weeks before the 21st birthday of the victim, Tominey Reid. It was not known what caused the accident.
Reid’s parents received a call at 1:30 am on July 29 about the incident and were informed that their daughter had fallen approximately 21 metres to the ground, news.com.au reported.
The woman had undergone various lifesaving surgeries at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital following the accident.
Hospital staff said Reid’s survival was a “miracle” and said her recovery would be long and challenging, her family said.
Reid’s father, Brad, shared the news of the accident on social media.
“After the longest week of lifesaving surgeries, she has miraculously defied the odds and (is) still with us,” he wrote on his Facebook page on August 5.
“She has the biggest fight ahead of her but is one of the strongest people I know and is ready for this fight! T-Bomb will come out of this stronger than ever!” he said.
Reid’s aunt Kirstin Small has created a fundraiser page on GoFundMe to support the family in this tough period. Till now, the family have raised $43,500, inching closer to their goal of $50,000, according to the media outlet.
“Described by hospital staff as sweet, clever, brave, and with her sense of humour definitely intact, Tominey Reid’s personality radiates warmth and resilience even during these trying times,” the fundraiser read.
