Chandrasekhar assured them govt will continue to work towards having a “level-playing field for big and small firms alike”, while creating an ecosystem that will catalyse growth for startups. “Today, startups presented their concerns regarding a few policies of Google. Assured them that the IT ministry will take it up with Google for a sustainable and long-term solution.”
Sources said that Google representatives also met govt officials and apprised them of their views on the matter. Startup industry was led by Alliance of Digital India Foundation (ADIF) and included top faces, such as, Anupam Mittal (CEO of shaadi.com), Murugavel Janakiraman (founder & CEO of Matrimony.com), Snehil Khanor (co-founder and CEO of TrulyMadly), Hitesh Oberoi (MD of Info Edge), and Lal Chand Bisu (co-founder and CEO of Kuku FM). The executives met both the ministers separately for around an hour each.
Shaadi.com’s Mittal told TOI that “there was complete assurance by govt to find a solution to their grievances” but added that companies also understand that these are “complex issues” and may take some time to get sorted out.
