Do you think being a politician comes in the way of your acting career ?
Being a politician, I am able to serve my people, that keeps me connected to the ground reality, which in turn enriches my acting. The experiences I gain translate into deeper, more authentic performances.
It’s definitely a juggling act, but time management is key. Acting is my passion and I wouldn’t be who I am, without it. So, my management team makes sure to schedule my commitments carefully, ensuring I can fully dedicate myself to both.
Kiran Rao said Aamir Khan had auditoned for the character you play. Your comment on the same?
Truth be spoken, I honestly wasn’t aware he had auditioned for the same role, I found that out much later. Aamir sir is a legend as we all know.
And here’s the thing: Kiran ma’am probably saw how I poured my heart and soul into bringing Shyam Manohar to life. Ultimately, it’s her vision that matters, and I’m just honoured and happy to have been a part of it. I am thankful to Kiran ma’am and Aamir sir for this wonderful opportunity.
Aamir Khan opens up about working with Kiran Rao after divorce; says ‘I got lucky…’
Will we see you with a star like Shah Rukh Khan or working in Dharma productions next?
I’m up for any project, whether it’s backed by a big banner or a small studio. What matters most to me is the strength of the script, the gripping story it tells, and the director’s vision. Whether it’s high-octane action with Rohit Shetty, grand productions with Dharma, or epic storytelling with S. S. Rajamouli, count me in!
We have seen you since Tere Naam… The general perception is that you still haven’t got your due…
Every project, character, and interaction with the audience has been its own reward. The journey of working in more than 750 + films in various languages itself is the greatest recognition. Acting offers constant challenges and the chance to reinvent oneself on screen, starting from Tere Naam’s selfless lover, to the other diverse characters portrayed. The truest “due” an actor can get is the opportunity to keep exploring, entertaining, and connecting with audiences.
