Shankar Mahadevan returns to Mumbai after Grammy win | – Times of India



Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain’s fusion bandShakti’ bagged the Grammy’s award for ‘Best Global Music Album’ on February 5, 2024, which was held in Los Angeles. At the Mumbai airport, the singer was greeted by a crowd of fans, who welcomed them with flowers, chocolate, and applause.
Shankar was overjoyed to find his loved ones waiting at the airport with gifts.He embraced them warmly and happily posed for the paparazzi. In a gesture of appreciation, he proudly sported a sweatshirt adorned with his band’s name while also giving a shoutout to his bandmates.’
Speaking to the media at the airport, Shankar Mahadevan said, “Well, what can I say? This is a very, very special moment for me and all of my band members. For me, it’s a dream come true. After touring for 25 years, here we got the Grammys.”
Recently, the singer took to Instagram and penned a heartfelt note that read, “We did it. I never imagined that a band from where I learned my music and my musical aesthetics would be the band with whom I would eventually perform and win a Grammy. This is the moment from which I can easily say that dreams do come true. Shakti was a dream that came true! Thank you, Almighty, for making this happen! It’s truly THIS MOMENT.”

Meanwhile, the album ‘This Moment’, released on June 30 last year, features eight songs created by John McLaughlin (guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist).
